Fire damage results in destruction of business

The Plaintiff sued for property damage as a result of a fire allegedly started by the Defendant. Both the Plaintiff and the Defendant were tenants in the building that caught fire and resulted in the complete destruction of the premises. The Plaintiff claimed that a space heater used by the Defendant ignited a cardboard box which started the fire. The Defendant argued that the cause of the fire could not be determined.

Fire causes substantial damage to business establishment

The Plaintiff sued for property damage and business interruption losses as a result of a fire allegedly caused by the Defendant’s negligence in failing to connect a fire suppression bypass system to a newly installed fryer. A Co-Defendant was also alleged to be negligent in failing to shut down the establishment after an inspection noted that the bypass system was not connected. After a four-day trial the jury returned a defense verdict.
