Premises liability claim against property owner for dog attack

The Plaintiff was disabled from birth and used a service dog to help her ambulate and function.

During a visit to the Defendant’s art gallery, she claimed she and her service dog were attacked by a pit bull belonging to one of the gallery employees.

She claimed injuries to her left forearm, shoulder and elbow in addition to post-traumatic stress and depression. She sought compensatory damages for the aforementioned, reimbursement for medical expenses in the amount of $13,000, and punitive damages for alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The Defendant contested liability and damages at trial and a defense verdict was entered.
